Use of GreenSeeker and CM-100 as manual tools for nitrogen management and yield prediction in irrigated potato (Solanum tuberosum) production

This study evaluated the possibility of use GreenSeeker sensor and CM-100 chlorophyll content meter for in-season N yield prediction in order to promote timely split application potato production Kenya. Four N-fertilization rates; N0 (0), N1 (60), N2 (90) N3 (130 kg N/ha) were led out a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) Greenhouse two seasons. The results showed that % leaf was significantly affected by rates. decreased as season continued whereas Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) increased continued. values correlated with at vegetative (r=0.86***) tuber initiation (r=0.74***) growth stages crop NDVI only (r=0.82***). A significant relationship found between taken different (end vegetative, initiation, bulking maturation stages) (r=0.90***, 0.82***, 0.47* 0.41*). end growth, also (r=0.81***, 0.43* 0.54*), except stage (r=0.33).
